Number 1 Reason to Keep Your Sex Life Away From Technology

As college students things happen that we may not be proud about the morning after. So what happens when you involve technology in these experiences? Taking pictures of yourself on your savvy new camera phone, using your webcam, or video camera etc., all sound like exciting new things, but don’t be fooled.

1. Your reputation can plummet: “Come on baby I won’t show anybody, just send it in an e-mail or a picture message to me.” Do you REALLY trust that statement unless it is someone that you have been dating for a while? Guys are sweet talkers, and well, girls just simply want the attention. The type of attention that you will be getting after he sends the picture that you send him, to everyone in his phone book will NOT be positive. Being known as the girl with pancake nipples or triangle boobs isn’t something that many girls want to be called or pride themselves on, especially when it’s a group consensus. The emotional repercussions that follow with just the click of a button can be catastrophic, as the whole world found out due to a sexual act that was broadcasted to Rutgers University, which caused an individual to take their own life. In some states sexting is even illegal depending on your age!

The world of technology is a nasty place out there for teens and young adults to get involved in, especially when living on a college campus. Once you are tagged with a name you will be forever known as the girl or guy that was caught on camera to all of your peers. I know 2 or 3 of my good friends who have gotten screwed over by technology and sex and when word first came out, it spread like wild fire. They were absolutely distraught because of one stupid mistake that they made, when they thought they could trust the other person who was involved. Keeping your sex life between you and your partner behind closed doors is the safest thing. I mean there’s really no excitement in it electronically anyway, it’s just a tease and a bad idea. Picture messaging, e-mailing, and webcaming, three of the most popular things in technology today have their downsides, this being one of them. Would you want to be person that everyone looks at weird or whispers about after you pass them on the path just because you thought it was a good idea to click the send button? Brett Favre definitely didn’t think that his pictures, voicemails, and whatever else he did would get the leak into the media, but it did and it is a huge deal to everyone. Isn’t he married too? His whole name is slandered and whenever he is brought up in conversation this scandalous act will always be talked about. He isn’t the only celebrity that can be linked to this either, Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush are victims of their own actions as well. You know how people say learn from your won mistakes? In this case I think it’s better that you learn from other people’s mistakes. Keep your reputation clean, your sense of self in check, and don’t allow sex and technology mix!
