I feel like I was just sending in my college applications and now I’m graduating in May. I know there are others that feel lost and scared about finding a job. I look around at my peers and wonder where they will be this time next year; will they go to grad school or will they venture into the real world?
The other day my professor talked to my class about finding a job in the finical world. He emphasized the importance of knowing the ins and outs of the company you’re interested in. He also said “It’s all about having the right connections and knowing the right things.” At some point in the future your grade-point average won’t matter anymore, it will just be the name of your school or maybe just the name of your major and soon enough the success of your first job or internship will matter most.
Maybe you are the kid that goes to an ivy-league school, gets a 4.0 and has the connections to get the job you want. However, your grades and the name of your college are only part of the battle. I believe that all college graduates have the ability to compete with the most elite universities and business school, it comes down to being connected and advised by the right people. Our society puts the majority of pressure on our education system but fails to educate us on HOW to successfully find a job!
Finally, there’s a website, http://www.bluechipcareer.com that can advise you and answer any questions regarding your career in the financial world. The website is designed to set you up with an investment banking executives that will council your career. The founder, Chris Carey, used to work as an investment banking analyst and now concentrates on his website. His connections remain strong with some of the most powerful people in the financial world. His clients have had great success and highly recommend the website.
This website is impressive! Blue Chip Career allows you to connect with the best in the industry, at the push of a button. You can be anyone! You don’t have to rely on your parent’s connections or professor’s help. Furthermore, the advisors are all from hedge funds, investment banking, capital markets, accounting, investment management, private equity, consulting, real estate, and commercial finance. Furthermore, the advisors are from prestigious firms such as Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanly and will meet with you 1-on-1.
On top of everything you get to read through the advisor’s bios and pick them for yourself. You then schedule an appointment and are given a questionnaire and preparation guidelines for your session. However, since the session is 1-on-1 you can go in any direction you want. The advisors want to help you, they have been fortunate enough with their own success and want to lend a hand to the younger generation’s career goals.
Like my professor said, it is crucial to be prepared before you enter the financial world. So why not take the time to do it right; connect with someone who is the best and look to those who have succeeded.
